HumaneIA settles on WordPress

This blog started life on Blogger.com hosting. Then it moved to Blogger on the humaneia.com domain. Six weeks ago I resurrected it on Movable Type 4 beta.

I liked Movable Type - it had a lot going for it as a professional blogging platform. And while it wasn’t Movable Type’s fault, I’ve transferred HumaneIA to WordPress because that is what I am used to, and what I can easily post on. That is the bottom line, really, it is just going to be easier to post here now that it is on WordPress.

Andrew, I would be very curious about your decision to move to WordPress. The Movable Type 4 Beta has been an amazing process and the feedback we have received from users has had a significant impact and influence upon each release, week after week.

I am curious what you find easier about posting to Wordpress? Is it endemic to the software, or simply a matter of taste? Whatever it is I hope it is something Movable Type can learn from so that we can make it a better product.

    Hi Byrne,

    thank you for your comment.

Please do not take this move as a complaint - like I said above, it is not your team’s fault. I had limited time to fully explore the Movable Type platform over the last month, and WordPress is what I am used to. I know that WordPress is not as powerful, and it has some issues with overenthusiasm from plugin and theme authors. The comment on ease of posting related to my forgeting the path to the admin interface in Movable Type - surely nobody’s fault but my own - with WordPress having taught me to just add /wp-admin/ after the blog URL. There is nothing that I would have asked you to do differently.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards, Andrew
